Generation who are living out of Kerala are not very fond of our mother tongue Malayalam. This is a very painful reality. Surprisingly, parents did not give any importance to Malayalam and they are also proud because their children are not speaking Malayalam. Our young generation who is living in other than Kerala do not anything about Malayalam, its culture and rituals. Modern parents and children think this is a useless language and they are ashamed to talk it.
There is no-one in this world other than Malayalee to handle their mothertongue in such a way. Look other South Indian States. Tamils, Kannadigars, Telugu people always have much respect to their own mothertongue and always insist their children to speak only in mothertongue in their home. What is the ultimate result of this fact? Is Malayalam will also get a place in the list of dying languages in the near future if this kind of life style continues. Please comment. With regards,
Manoj Kumar. K.K.

Re: [www.keralites.net] Malayalee- Malayalam
Dear Manoj,
I appreciate your concern about our mother toungue - malayalam...
But in Delhi I don't think there is such cases of not knowing malayalam amoung malayalee kids as there are lot of organisations are conducting Malayalam Classes with the help of Norka (now it is Malayam Mission) for the past 3-4 years.
If you are interested to teach/organise such classes in Mayapuri area (there is already existing such classes in Harinagar quite near to you), you may please contact/register with Norka/Malayalam Mission (Kerala House) immediately
I am residing in Mayur Vihar Phase-III and here there are at least 5-6 such malayalam study centres (registered with Malayama Mission) and are conducting annual exams and also the result of each and every years comes good to excellent....
In our homes we only speak in malayalam, you can also try this to your home and compell others to do so.....
Regards
Anil
