Unfortunately, our people are not showing concern comparable to what is shown when
events take place all over the world, on such a vital issue. There have been hartals even when
some people were killed or some farreaching events took place, but nary any such thing on this
matter.Some activities are on on Face Book, there was a coming together yesterday at Kochi
and a good blog has been circulated. The Minister for Irrigation has started being agitated, but
political parties seem to be keen on playing politics alone. One cannot comprehend how the situation
was allowed legitimacy by our own State Government in 70's with hardly a murmer. Some one should
challenge the very legitimacy of the original Agreement, which was a most unequal one, as a Suzeraini
extracted it from a vassal, as it were.
Social sites are needed to be more active on this issue. Certainly, lives of more than three million people
deserve a more concerted action!!

| തൊടുപുഴ: ഇടുക്കിയില്‍ വീണ്ടും ഭൂചലനം. ഇന്ന്‌ വെളുപ്പിന്‌ നാല്‌ തവണയാണ്‌ ഭൂചലനമുണ്ടായത്‌. മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാര്‍ ഡാമിന്റെ ദുര്‍ബലാവസ്‌ഥ ഏറെ ചര്‍ച്ച ചെയ്യപ്പെടുന്ന സമയത്താണ്‌ വീണ്ടും ഭൂചലനം ഭീതി പടര്‍ത്തുന്നത്‌. ഇടുക്കി ജില്ലയിലെ ഉപ്പുതറ, വളകോട്‌ , മൂലമറ്റം, ചപ്പാത്ത്‌ എന്നിവടങ്ങളിലാണ്‌ ഭൂചലനം അനുഭവപ്പെട്ടത്‌. കോട്ടയം ജില്ലയിലെ പൂഞ്ഞാര്‍ പ്രദേശത്തും ഭൂചലനം അനുഭവപ്പെട്ടു. ആളപായവും മറ്റ്‌ നാശനഷ്‌ടങ്ങളും റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട്‌ ചെയ്‌തിട്ടില്ല. എന്നാല്‍ തുടര്‍ ചലനങ്ങള്‍ ഉണ്ടാവുമെന്ന്‌ ഭൗമ വിദഗ്‌ധര്‍ വ്യക്‌തമാക്കി. പുലര്‍ച്ചെ 3.14, 3.20, 5.30, 5.55 എന്നീ സമയങ്ങളിലായിരുന്നു ഭൂചലനങ്ങള്‍. ആദ്യ ഭൂചലനം റിക്‌ടര്‍ സ്‌കെയിലില്‍ 3.4 ഡിഗ്രി തീവ്രത രേഖപ്പെടുത്തി. പിന്നീട്‌ 1.0, 1.4,1.7 തീവ്രതകളിലാണ്‌ ഭൂചലനങ്ങള്‍ ഉണ്ടായത്‌. ഒരു മാസത്തിനിടെ ഇടുക്കിയില്‍ പത്തിലധികം ഭൂചലനങ്ങളാണ്‌ ഉണ്ടായിട്ടുള്ളത്‌. ഭൂചലനങ്ങളെ തുടര്‍ന്ന്‌ മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാര്‍ ഡാമിലെ വിള്ളലുകള്‍ കൂടുതല്‍ ശക്‌തമായിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. |
