Re: [www.keralites.net] Selling more than MRP

Mr. Balu,

Rs. 118 as cost of the item + Rs. 28.08 VAT !!   ie 23.8% tax, especially on Food Products is unbelievable.

When, even small roadside shoppers sell items less than MRP, these chain stores are doing clearcut cheating on customers.

What must have made them to act like this is, their impression that their "premium customers" wont spare time to question this.

Balu Bhai, a small mail narrating the history to the Commercial taxes department with a cc to its apex level is enough. Action will be sure, if the whole department is not corrupted.

Good luck for your try to do something for the society.

Hi
could you make the item more specific? Which brand-What price shown the product-How much did they charge-

There is no item in India as MRP (Exclusive of taxes) at present with the Introduction of VAT, (Tax is collected on Retail Price).

VAT Bill shows How much amount you paid as Tax and how much the cost of item.

If it does not show, they are selling without VAT Registration/ doing unaccounted sales.

There shall be TIN (Tax Index Number) in the Invoice. Lodge a complaint to State Commercial Intelligence Department.

Subject: [www.keralites.net] Selling more than MRP

Friends,

I reside in Bangalore.

I recently boughtsome items from Bangalore Central (owned by Future Group). They have billed atMRP as well as charged VAT on the MRP.

MRP printed on the package says it is inclusive of taxes. In my opinion, what Bangalore Central havedone is legally wrong.

Pl advise pain-free mannerof getting this redressed. My complaint to them by email is still unanswered.

Rgds,
Balu
