Trivandrum: The IT@School project of the Kerala Government will develop a model school in all the 140-assembly constituencies. Each of these model schools will have five classrooms equipped with modern tools to aid in learning. Five selected classrooms in the selected schools in each of the constituencies will be provided with multimedia projectors and laptops. Each of the 140 MLAs have to nominate a high school from their constituency for the programme. As part of the programme, teachers from the selected schools will be trained in Information Technology and Information and Communications Technology to help them train children in various subjects with the aid of technology. The digital content created by the teachers using ICT tools will be added to an online information repository, which could later be used as an aid in teaching. IT@School provides Information and Communications Technology (ICT) enabled education to 1.6 million students per year in the state. IT@School runs an exclusive channel for education called 'ViCTERS' (Virtual Classroom Technology on Edusat for Rural Schools).

Anish Varghese
