Re: [www.keralites.net] brain blood flow - advice required.

Hello,

After having read many pieces of advice that was given for the treatment of the fibroid I think I may share my experience here. I was suffering from fibroid for many years. While in Delhi I visited St.Stephens Hospital and consulted a very famous doctor. He suggested operation. But for this with my then three year old daughter I could not do it in Delhi for assistance for us was not possible as i had no other relatives in Delhi.

It is then when I came to Kerala that people came with one hundred ideas and in an eagerness to avoid operation at any cost I tried many of them. They were drinking lentil soup, eating horsegram and I even visited a man who claimed he knew exactly what to do in this case. He mentioned a treatment with herbs which included making a concotion of the bark of the root of drumstick tree and many others, names i do not remember now, for 25 days to one month in empty stomach. I did that though it was horrible to drink it. I was also told that there is a capsule from America which may help and when I heard the prize of it, 2500 Rs per one and with no guarantee I decided against it. But in the end the multiple calculi were still there which we found out by doing the ultra sound.

Finally after the unpleasant experience I got the operation done in P.V.S Hospital kaloor. I opted for Key hole surgery as I had a small child to take care and I am just fine now even after 14 years of the operation. I had stones, a handful, similar to chilly seeds. If you have a stone weighing 100 gms and multiple stones nothing in the world will help except the operation and SOONER THE BETTER. I used to have severe consequences especially after eating spicy or heavy food.

God Bless you
Josephina

It is true that there are many herbs claimed to increase the blood flow to the brain.
Daily exercise, any type that increases the heart rate increases blood flow to the brain.

Practicing YOGA especially does that with much more benefits!!!
Rather than asking non medical friends about medications, who in their eagerness to help and share half boiled ideas, may do harm unwittingly, it is my opinion that in these matters professional help will be ideal.

In Ayurveda and Modern medicine as well as other branches there are proven drugs; but their dosage for individual person may vary.

I am working as Executive Secretary in Hyderabad . First of all I thank you all for the advice given by my friends for uterine fibroids. I also would like to take the advice from all of you for increasing the blood flow to the brain as I came to know about some herbs which increases the blood flow and would remain active. But unfortunately these herbs are not available in India , I here give below the description which was downloaded from the net. I would like to mention that most of the time I am quite idle in the office for long stretch of hours making me dull.

1) Vinpocetine. This extract, derived from an alkaloid found in the Periwinkle plant, is used as a cerebral vasodilator. It increases blood flow to the brain, which improves its oxygenation and thereby increases mental alertness and acuity. Research suggests it may also be the most powerful memory enhancer available to date.

2) Gingko Biloba. The leaves of this tree have been proven to increase blood flow to the brain. The trees are often planted in parks. My friends and I used to eat a few leaves when we wanted a brain boost. It is also inexpensive, if you buy the capsules or tea at any health food store.

3) Saint John's Wort. This is a common weed that may be growing in your yard. Although it's brain enhancing qualities are less documented (studies do show it's usefulness for treating long-term depression), many people swear by it's temporary mood-elevating effect, and our brains tend to function better when we are happy. It is inexpensive, but I used to just collect it in the yard and make tea of it. (Hyperacum Perforatum, if you want to look it up by it's botanical name.)

It is requested whether any alternative herbs are available.

With Thanks & Regards,
