Gameboys and Girls by Jan von Holleben
In this latest edition, photographer Jan von Holleben asked his friends in Berlin to partake in a playful adventure. You may remember Jan as the one behind the beautiful and endearing series, Dreams of Flying.
"For me, all my photography is about playing! This very project is the essence of what I usually do and a starting point, after finalizing 'Wir werden immer grösser' in 2008. I am putting a lot of planning and thinking in developing new strategies for 'the art of playing photography.' This will be an ongoing project.
"It is me and my friends working out photographic games and executing them together! Usually this starts with dinner at my place and loads of paper and pens. Then, during another meeting, we bring our research, images and books together and discuss further aspects. Finally when we have enough ideas together, I sit down, add some photography, a bit of theory and boil it all down to a very thick soup. After that, my team in the studio runs the production, gets props, coordinates locations and gets everybody together for the shootings!"
