Yes. it is a good initiative. but you have not clearly mentioned following points:
1. are u doing this survey in yr individual capacity or on behalf of an organisation/institution?
2. in what capacity and context u r doing this?
3. in many cases mentally challenged also have physical demormities
4. what sort of relief u can give to these special persons?
5. if a genuine survey, you should have prepared a 'questionnaire' and sent it for collection of information
6. are you or the institution you represent getting any 'aid/grant'
7. is yr organisation a recognised NGO?
8. what is the guarantee that the information collected will not be used for adverse purposes, you know some perverted people even use such children for film shooting
please forgive me for being a little 'sceptical' because today's world is like that. if you reveal yr identity and purpose, even i can volunteer to help you.
i am a retired person now settled in Chennai with contacts and roots in Kerala.

Hi,         We are conducting a statewise survey for collecting information about the mentally retarded/menatlly challenged or the mentally handicapped people to find their educational level and problems. Please do reply to this mail as we can do something for the peole who need our help to live.
