Re: [www.keralites.net] English word for 'Ethramathe"

Hello Friends

Please see the below comment by our friend.

I think "Presidential Form" is absolutely a wrong word for "Ethramathe".

(Please don't mind as my intention is only to clarify the statements.)

Please see the below links.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/presidential

http://www.google.ae/#hl=en&source=hp&biw=1366&bih=572&q=presidential+form&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&fp=33eafc62fb3acdb3

Status Order, Chronological Order, What Number Prime Ministers etc are right usages. Once again I remind my intention is only to point out the mistake.

Dear Friend

There are several ways to express 'Ethramathe" in English.

Standard Usage

What is the Ordinal Status of Indira Gandhi among the prime ministers of India?

Other Simple Usages

1. What number Prime Minister of India was Indira Gandhi?

2. Which of the Indian Prime Minister was Indira Gandhi?

I think the following also could be used,

1. What is the number of Indira Gandhi among the line of Prime Ministers of India?

2. What is the numerical order of Indira Gandhi among the Prime Ministers of India?

Please find the below link

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/ordinal?o=100074

Hope this is helpful

Dear all

In this context, a test for all. Can any one find out the equivalent of the two Malayalam words "Pengal" and "Angala" in any other language. Remember a "Pengal" cannot have another "Pengal" or an "angala' cannot have another "angala".

Hi Sunitha,
I wonder wether there are any such words in English language. You must be wondering why?
The reason is ...language or words evolve from culture, which itself is a product of behaviour. Unlike the Indian culture where, whether you like it or not, because of marriage between a boy and a girl lots of relations are formed and a close knit society as we are, you got to live upto and conduct yourself in the socially acceptable manner with all those relations.
And hence, you got to give a proper name to each relationship.
But in the west there are no such norms ...even with in a small...nucleus family comprising only a husband and the wife, the partners demand privacy from each other ...elbow room as they like to call it.
In Hindi we call them Samdhi (I think derived from Sambandhi)
