We in India-I do not know how the other under developed/developing nations are-exist solely because of all these poisons. A controversial statement, I am sure! The food production segment of the country-vegetables, milk, fish, meat all are heavily dependent on many types of poisons to produce, preserve and distribute their products. Let us see about vegetables:- The seeds are immersed in poison to thwart the insects Then potent insecticides are sprinkled in the soil again Then at each stage of growth more and more and varied poisons are used till the day the products are reaped Poisons are sprinkled on the products again when taking it to the market We can only wash away part of the poison on the EXTERNAL parts of these vegetables and fruits, What about the tons and tons of pesticides dissolved in them??? Next fish. Fish, especially the bigger ones are even processed in FORMALIN, the chemical used to keep bodies preserved for years and years. While or before freezing preservatives are added and the Ice we see is rather an "eye wash" to make the consumer believe that it is iced fish they are buying Ammonia and many other chemicals unknown to the common man are liberally used These are in addition to the mercury and other poisons the fish accumulate in the sea and the rivers. Now meat: Chicken and other poultry are steroid fattened and play havoc with children making them FAT AND STERILE. Cattle-beef, bison etc are given a drink of "hemlock, like given to Socrates" , no they are given a drink of -copper sulfate- so that they swell with water-the muscles retain water like some people with swelling on their bodies, the meat will weigh much more and once you cook all the water comes out-BUT THE COPPER SULFATE remains, WILL SLOWLY KILL YOUR LIVER, KIDNEY etc. Last but not least MEDICINES: Now that the above mentioned poisons galore has made us all sick, we have no where to go but the doctors and hospital. The medicines are spurious, contains so many types of adulterants and some contain DATE EXPIRED MEDICINES packed in new packs  And about various types of alcoholic beverages the less said the better, since it is a kind of poison WILLINGLY AND KNOWINGLY consumed by a section of the population, and the adulterers (those who adulterate it) simply make it more poisonous giving a helping hand to the alcoholics to meet their maker earlier. It is said adultery is as old as the humans and so adulteration is here to stay !!!! --- On Mon, 18/10/10, Aamr N <aamrnj@gmail.com> wrote:   എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ നിരോധിക്കുമെന്ന്‌ യു.എന്‍ ; ഇന്ത്യ എതിര്‍ത്തു ജനീവ: മാരക കീടനാശിനിയായ എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ നിരോധിക്കാന്‍ ജനീവയില്‍ ചേര്‍ന്ന യു.എന്‍ സ്‌റ്റോക്ക്‌ഹോം കണ്‍വെന്‍ഷന്‍ തീരുമാനം. ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ശക്തമായ എതിര്‍പ്പ് മറികടന്നാണ് തീരുമാനം. എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാനെ മാരക കീടനാശിനിയായി കണക്കാക്കി അനസ്‌കര്‍ പട്ടികയില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിനെ ഇന്ത്യ ശക്തമായി എതിര്‍ക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. കേരളത്തിലെ കാസര്‍കോടുള്‍പ്പെടെയുള്ള ഗ്രാമങ്ങളില്‍ നൂറുകണക്കിന് പേരെ കൊന്നൊടുക്കുന്ന എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാനെ മൃദു കീടനാശിനികളുടെ ഇനത്തില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തണമെന്നാണ് ഇന്ത്യ വാദിച്ചത്. എന്നാല്‍ 30 അംഗങ്ങളില്‍ 26 പേരും എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ നിരോധനത്തെ അനുകൂലിച്ച് വോട്ട് ചെയ്യുകയായിരുന്നു. ചൈനയും ജര്‍മനിയും വോട്ടിങ്ങില്‍ നിന്ന് വിട്ടുനിന്നു.  ഉല്‍പാദനത്തിനും വിതരണത്തിനും ഉപയോഗത്തിനും എക്കാലത്തും നിരോധനമേര്‍പ്പെടുത്തുന്നവയെയാണ് അനക്‌സര്‍ പട്ടികയില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തുക. ഭൂമിയെ എക്കാലവും മലിനമാക്കുന്ന രാസവസ്തുക്കളെയും കീടനാശിനികളെയുമാണ് ഇങ്ങിനെ നിരോധിക്കുന്നത്. 2001ലെ സ്‌റ്റോക്ക് ഹോം കണ്‍വെന്‍ഷനിലാണ് ഇത്തരം കീടനാശിനികളെ കണ്ടെത്തി നിരോധനമേര്‍പ്പെടുത്താന്‍ തീരുമാനമായത്. ഭൂമിയെ മലിനമാക്കുകയും ഭക്ഷ്യ ശംഖലയിലൂടെ മനുഷ്യ ശരീരത്തില്‍ പ്രവേശിച്ച് അപകടകരമായ പ്രത്യാഖാതങ്ങളുണ്ടാക്കുന്നതുമായ കീടനാശിനികളാണ് ഇവ. ഡി.ഡി.ടി എന്‍ഡ്രിന്‍, ആള്‍ട്രിന്‍, എക്‌സ്‌ക്ലോറിഡ് ബേസിന്‍ തുടങ്ങിയ മാരക വിശങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് തുല്യമാണ് എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാനെന്നാണ് സമിതി വിലയിരുത്തിയത്. അടുത്ത വര്‍ഷം ചേരുന്ന സ്റ്റോക്ക്‌ഹോം കണ്‍വെന്‍ഷനില്‍ ഇതു സംബന്ധിച്ച് അന്തിമ തീരുമാനമെടുക്കും. എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ പൂര്‍ണമായി നിരോധിക്കുന്നതിനെ പിന്തുണക്കണമെന്ന് കേരളം കേന്ദ്രസര്‍ക്കാറിനോട് പ്രത്യേകം ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. ഇതു സംബന്ധിച്ച് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി വി.എസ് അച്യുതാനന്ദന്‍ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിക്കും പരിസ്ഥിതി മന്ത്രി ജയറാം രമേശിനും കത്തെഴുതുകയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ കാരണം ഇന്ത്യയില്‍ 15 ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലായി 100 കണക്കിന് പേര്‍ മരിക്കുകയും ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് പേര്‍ ഗുരുതരമായ ശാരീരിക പ്രത്യാഘാതങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഇരയാവുകയും ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇതിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിലാണ് കേരളം എന്‍ഡോസള്‍ഫാന്‍ ഉപയോഗം നിരോധിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് തീരുമാനമെടുത്തത്.  www.keralites.net
