I was, once travelling from Thrissur to Aluva in a passenger train in the afternoon. The train was full and I found one compartment of a coach is empty. All the compartments in the same coach had enough passengers and people were standing for want of seats. I went to the empty room and saw a dirty drunk guy is sleeping on one of the seat. He wasnt actually sleeping, and he watched me what I am going to do. I just looked at the situation and I was sure that this guy is a street begger, without any ticket, and would have occuppied the seat from the starting station one hour ago. I was wondered why all the other passengers are reluctant to occupy the empy seats near to him and allowing to enjoy that freedom. I just waked him up and asked to clear off the room with a firm voice. He stood up, looked at me with some question in his eyes, and walked away towards the empty area near the toilet. He sat there and started sleeping again. I was alone in the room for further few seconds, and found all other passegers occupying the seats one by one. Reason why I told about incident is to hilight the attitude of our people. We do not have the guts to deal with any issues directly. When a lady found that the man opposite is smoking, she, instead of asking him to stop it, went to the court and got an order banning smoking. When a woman faces sexual harassments in public transports, she dont dare to slap him on his face, but like to get that incident printed in the media. When the govt send people on leave, it earns money in terms of unpaid salary and do not re appoint people, for the fear of losing that money. There are many issues in Kerala in connection with the un employment, and we donot want to look at any of them, instead wait for courts to bring out orders. Are we in a mood to replace the country's ruling authority to other authories like press etc? The first rule to be implemented in kerala, to solve the unemploment problem is to implement a rule that any over qualified candidate will be entertained for a job. The govt servants who are holing the posts of last grades, clerks etc , at present, are having educational qualifications suitable for gazatted ranks, and the newly appointed candidated do not remain in their seats for long. their idea is just to occupy the post for job security and seek a better post , sitting comfortable, at govt cost. Impact of gulf employed govt servants on the unemploment issue, if at all any, will be not even one or to percentage, compared to this. Is any one the educated youth of kerala willing to do the job of an attender in the isolated ward of a govt hospital, after he get the job as a last grade servant? No, because he/she may be your wife or daughter, and hold a post graduate certificate. What you do instead? Advice that individual to go for some sick leave and keep writing other tests till getting a better chance. If the rule of stopping over qualified candidates appearing for exam is implemented, eligible candidates will get the job and you will find the hospitals not vacant of posts. Lets learn the social issues, by ourself, and not from the court and media. And instead of saying that my room is dirty, let us be ready to clean it ourself. --- On Tue, 16/11/10, Chinmoy Mam <chinmoy68@yahoo.com> wrote:
