Re: [www.keralites.net] a word in english

Dear Friends,

Before moving to Abu Dhabi, I was working in an US-based IT company in Chennai.

In my organization the term "Pre-pone" was used extensively in the mails which are send to the Clients in USA. Even the term is used by the US Clients in their reply. It was also used extensively in the whole office even among the higher officials.

Since what all usages contributed by the Indian population will easily be adopted by the US and UK because of their high dependability on Indian Outsourcing Firms.

Also a language will grow and have grown only through the new phrases and usages. There is nothing wrong in adopting new wordings which provides more convenience and ease.

Think the word "prepone" is more easy to use as antonym to the word 'postpone".

You can use Advance, bring forward, reschedule. All of these are words respective to each country. Prepone is a word made in India, as long as you tell this to an Indian. I suppose he or she will understand. Probably American or a British wont understand as its not there in their dictionaries. But dictionaries are considering to add this word as there is no exact opposite to postpone. And if postpone, then why not prepone. Afterall, we are the second largest English speaking country in the world. I am sure we can contribute a few :D

How will you say when you want something to be done earlier than the date you have already decided
For example if you have booked a ticket for 10th of november and you want to change it for 1st of November
( .....There is no word called prepone in English Dictionary)
best regards
