Re: [www.keralites.net] NEED HELP :: SBI account deactivated anonymously

Dear Friends,

To my experience the information regarding the Salary Account is partially right and partially wrong.

I was working with an MNC in Chennai from January 2007 to December 2009 and my salary was credited to my newly opened Salary Account with HDFC. I enjoyed the benefit of Zero balance and Free ATM Card Swipes, which is free of charge with other bank's ATMs.

I resigned my job from Chennai on 2009 December and for the past 11 months I am working in a firm in Abu Dhabi.

Till now my Salary Account is active even i never changed it to a normal account/Never intimated my resignation to the bank.

Later after my resignation, my PF was credited to the same account after 7 months.

As per the information from the Bank Manager A salary account will change automatically to a Normal Savings Account when salary is not credited for a period of over 6 months or more. The only change happens is the free benefits will be withdrawn but never it will be deactivated or shut down. Just remember the bank can later enjoy the PF amounts due to the employee also through the same account.

The bank never has any authority to shut down anybody's account unless otherwise it is an intimation from the courts or any similar ordinance.

The bank also doesn't enjoy any right to retain customers money.

Request the Bank Managers in the group to provide more responses on this issue.

With Thanks & Regards,

Salary Account enjoys the benefit of zero balance. But the normal account need to have a minimum balance stipulated by the bank concerned. Once the account holder resign from the job the account also cease to get the benefit of the salary account.

The bank used to wait for 3 to 6 months to get the information from the customeer to make it a normal account/closure. If the same is not received the bank they will deactivate the account.

This is the practice in the banks. This is the experience of the salary account holders whom I know. The same is explained by them.

As the account holder has not asked in writing to close the account, it is not in order for the Bank
to deactivate it. It is against Banking Law and practice. It should be remembered that the account opening form
with requisite supporting documents were given by the account holder, the employer would have
introduced the individual, it never gives any authority to them to mandate closure/ deactivation.

Hi Friend,

From your letter I presumethat his account is a salary account. Since he left the company they would have intimated the same to the bank branch. So the bank would have deactivated the account.

In my opinion if he wanted to continue that account he should convert that salary account,if so, to normal regular account. Then the bank will allow the operation.

Dear Sunitha,

Let him to contact with the branch, most probably he provided company address as the proof of address and the same is now changed. So he can provide new proof and activate the same. (Not Applicable for Salary (Current) Account. If it is so, better withdraw whole amount as soon as possible directly from branch)

Thanks & Regards

Hi everybody,
My brother was working in a company Giridih, Jharkhand. He opened a account at SBI bank through the company by producing his personal proofs and PAN card.
Before 3 months he left the company and joined another company at Tadipatri, Andrapradesh.
He was regularly using the account but the account was suddenly deactivated, when he contacted the branch, the bank has told that the account was deactivated by the company.
He didnt get any proper response from the company.
He had a balance around Rs.50,000 in that account.. What should be done to re-activate the account and get the money.
ANY BODY PLEASE HELP.
Thanks and Regards,
Sunitha. H
