Re: [www.keralites.net]

Hello all,
If we do not take step to prevent the disaster by lowering the water level or decommissioning, the new dam site also will get washed off in case the failure happens and more casualities. So the first step will be to analyse the situation and take immediate logic actions with priority on safety first .To make the T. nadu CM aware of the crisis the CM of kerala should / the CPM should make her visit mullaperiyar. The T. nadu govt should be made a party if the disaster happens with written agreements filed .The agreement we had with t.nadu during British times we could have cancelled it at the time of Independance, Kerala did not do it why it was neglected. When all political parties start a debate on this the actual culprit atleast a few will come out. There is much more that politics in this & once this talk gets in to the air T. nadu will come for talk since they have many things to hide .And if possible the Govt of kerala should have a all party team with judicial power to study the slagness from beurocracy and to see if the elected leadrers wre not educated properly by the concerned department /civil service. And if the Concerned CM's of Kerala had taken a decission based on compassionate reasons definitely our present CM should highlight the case and get back safety guarantee atleast. For this our CM can take in to confidence other CM's after sending a SOS to all other CM's.Along with this after taking the opposition leaders in to confidence Kerala govt should float a " Intellectual bidding "from( Indian) legal and dam safety experts to give there BID on what is to be done a composite bid in this bid politicians and business men can participate..Kerala CM & opposition leader should open and analyse the Bids together
and remunerate the sucessful bid also.Let Kerala show the way for other states in this.We hate to take help and be transparent for certain gains here if the case is serious human life is at stake and if our democracy can't answer this problem how do we expect to answer our similar issues with neighbouring countries in Northern border.Regards.ashok kumar

The following are my views on Mullaperiyar Dam Issue

Whether Tamil Nadu agreeing for a New Dam or Not [Hope Tamil Nadu will understand it's seriousness], to save millions of lives and Nature we must construct a new Dam.  Delegate an expert body to initiate Dialogue with Tamil Nadu and Central Government, in the meantime, Kerala Government has to take necessary immediate steps to plan the following to save the lead time to built the new dam;

·         Identify the right place for the New Dam.

·         Form an experts committee to Advice/help the project at war footedness level.

·         Plan, Design for the New Dam.

·         Identify a few quality builders and start negotiating important areas.

·         If necessary, study what all are the practical difficulties that might arise while constructing the new dam and solutions for that.

·         Estimate Fund required and source for it.

·         Arrangements for adequate Safety measures like disaster management for the people and Nature till commissioning the new Dam.

·         Identify what precautions have to be taken to ensure its quality and timely completion of the project.

·         Prepare a Draft agreement for water sharing.

I would like to add the following opinions like,

·         Let not political parties play their gimmicks to achieve their personal benefits endangering the lives of millions. (As National Political parties of each state are expressing diverse views).

·         Let our political parties not have bind eyes towards the people's uprisings in Yemen, Egypt, Syria & Libya regarding their governments as we are worried about the lives of @40 Lacks million people and Nature.

·         First we should agree as INDIANS and not as Tamiliyans or Malayalees.

·         The present Dam never lasts for 999 years, people should be skeptical to know the reality and not to go behind the gimmicks of political parties.

·         History indicates that the Indian Government has always responded after the surge of Disaster, we don't want to repeat the experiment with the lives of @40 lacks of people and nature.

·         Will Tamil Nadu Government take the responsibility for the lives of @40 lacks people and Nature in case of any disaster to the Mullaperiyar Dam since the operation of the Dam and Security is in the hands of Tamil Nadu Government.

I would appreciate your comments.

Best Regards,

Sajeevan Vazhayil
