Nokia's new smartphone trio While many people were expecting to see MeeGo devices at this year's Nokia World event in London, the Finnish mobile giant instead delivered new additions to its Symbian^3 family. The trio joins the N8 smartphone announced earlier this year. The Nokia E7 smartphone (Photo credit: Reuben Lee/CNET Asia) The flagship model of the trio is the E7, which is like a modern version of the Communicator. Described as the "ultimate business smartphone", the E7 is targeted at business users with its onboard security features and support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. It also comes with a generous 4-inch capacitive touchscreen and slide-out QWERTY keypad. According to Nokia, the screen features the company's ClearBlack technology, which is said to improve viewing visibility outdoors. The C7 and C6 are consumer-oriented smartphones aimed at offering social-networking tools in a stylish form factor. All three handsets are slated to ship before the end of the year. The entertainment- and imaging-focused N8 is on track for launch in late September. In addition, Nokia also annnounced new mobile accessories, including the BH-905i Bluetooth stereo headset with active noise cancellation and the DT-600 Charging Plate. Also unveiled was a new collection of Bluetooth headsets for 2011, which come with an "Always Ready" feature that promises to extend the headsets' standby time to three months. This works by powering off the head gear when it is slotted back into the holder.
