Asianet Communications Limited Asianet Communications Ltd. (Asianet) was originally incorporated as a private limited company by the name "Asianet Communications Private Limited" at Delhi on 05/03/1991. The Registered Office of the Company was shifted to Chennai on 3rd Dec. 1997. The Company has since been converted to a Public Limited Company w.e.f.15th January 2000.Asianet was promoted by Dr.Raji Menon and Mr.Sasikumar in 1991, when Satellite television broadcasting in India was at its nascent stage. Television companies like Star TV, ZEE, etc, were all in their formative stages. Up-linking from Indian soil had not been permitted. Asianet hired a transponder on Russian satellite "EKRAN", with up-linking from theUSSR. Later, the company hired transponder on "RIMSAT" satellite. The up-linking was shifted to Subic Bay Island in Philippines and then to Manila. Initially, the transmission time was only three hours per day which was gradually increased to 12 hours per day, by the end of 1994. In early 1995, up-linking was shifted toSingapore where it attained full operational status. With change in the policy of the Government of India, Asianet started up-linking from Chennai through VSNL. With effect from 15th July 2002, the channel is up-linked from Asianet's own earth station (Teleport), set up at Asianet Complex at Trivandrum. There were only limited entrepreneurs in India who were willing to invest in sophisticated receiving and distribution equipment in the early nineties. Most distributors operated with crude equipment like small fixed dish antenna and ordinary satellite receivers and amplifiers, distributing the signals to a few households in limited neighbourhood. Asianet addressed this handicap by undertaking cable distribution through a wholly owned subsidiary, Asianet Satellite Communications Ltd., to ensure last mile connectivity anywhere within Kerala. | read more...

 | INDIAVISION SATELLITE COMMUNICATIONS-KOCHI-KERALA Launch: Indiavision, July 14, 2004 There is nothing else that has become so dear to keralites during this three -year time than the launching of Indiavision 24 hour news channel. It was perfect tuning at first sight. An instantaneous hit ever since. As the media conscious neo-malayalee scanned the signals from the skies, the most modern mode of live newscast came swift like a thunderbolt. They were witnessing a rare kind of newscast. To a good chunk of general public Indiavision has become a channel for continuous and compulsory watching. It touched the right nerve to attempt to find out the truth of national public business, as complete and nearly accurate. The channel was after every possible story of human success. We made it a point to analyse failures by criminal negligence in public life as well. It all started when Keralam was going through a bad period in socio-political functioning. Politically it was a period of distrust and abandoning of highest degree. It was full of conflicts and turbulence. The actual drama behind the stage was not visible and Indiavision could make the political exercise and business of running the government very transparent. People could see through each and every action of the decision makers in Kerala through the live news telecasts. It did not target politicians alone. On the other hand Indiavision treated politicians, burocrits, artists, film stars and ordinary people who made news, equal when dealt with them. Such is the role of Indiavision that, it suddenly became difficult to conceal anything from the eyes of the public in Kerala. We at Indiavision think we had started a real job of fact finding to benefit the people. Right from the 6 AM bulletin we kept Keralam in the lime light with breaking latest news stories and updating old ones every hour. News and programs It could be said that our newsroom is where the action is. Our news camera moved out to every corner of Kerala the way it never used to be. The student unrest of 2003 brought live, a six-hour marathon telecast, from Trivandrum and Kozhikode in turn by Indiavision made the prevalent traditional news bulletins feel really sleepy and wanting. When it covered the Marine drive convention of congress I group live it automatically revealed a drama. 'NEWS NIGHT' the daily news analysis magazine at 21.00 hours set a model for other channels. The decision makers took the hot seat to answer questions in our news studios day after day as each issue were taken for discussion. They have acknowledged the opportunity provided by the channel to place their argument on record. | read more... Jeevan TV
