[www.keralites.net] The High Line

The High Line

A breathtaking way to view from above, the west side of NYC. Opened in 2009, The High Line in its first phase is a 2.3km strip of elevated pathway on the far west side of Manhattan. Originally an abandoned 1930's railway track used for servicing the meatpacking district that it travels above.  The High Line was conceived by architects Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Field Operations and is inspired by the unruly beauty of this postindustrial ruin, where nature has reclaimed a once vital piece of urban infrastructure. An inspired slice of urban public space.
