Re: [www.keralites.net] wHAT IS Real democracy

Very good question Mr. Chacko,
But there is another face of it, which the people in southern part of the country in general and in Kerala in particular are not exposed to so much, and that is the TYPE OF VOTES CAST. In many parts in the north, people at large are not allowed to vote....come to think of it they are not even allowed to approach the polling booth at all by hoodlums and goondas. So, under theses circumstances whatever percentage of total votes may be garnered by the winning candidate, it does not carry any meaning.
you and I can keep lamenting about the type of electoral system we have in our country.
However, I join you in asking ...ARE WE IN A DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY?

So called Majority now is not a majority because, the total vote received to all other candidates are much more than the winner. Or in other words, the winner is not getting the support of more than 50% of the voter. This is the reason for unstable government..        ARE WE IN A DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY?
